Round-UpYou Better Watch Out… Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!

If we were to imagine that Santa Claus was into watches, there are certain kinds of timepieces that would best suit the big guy in red—some to help him during his busiest night of the year, and others simply in the spirit of the holiday season. Here’s our selection of watches that would be ideal for Saint Nick

May We Recommend

Fact or fantasy, Santa Claus is one of the most enduring symbols of festivity and celebration, and is a carrier of not just presents for children, but also joy, hope and fun. Christmastime is incomplete without multiple depictions of Santa Claus seen all over the place. His red hat with a white trim and bobble is what instantly turns one’s look in an embracement of the spirit of the holiday season, even without the red suit, belt and boots. Yet, even with the full getup, there’s still something missing, in our eyes, watch people as we are. A suitable wristwatch completes any look, so why should Santa Claus not have one! This Christmas, we’re picking out watches that would work best for him, for function, as well as for fun.

World-Timer Watches For Santa Claus

How Santa Claus does it all in one night, is incredible. Sure, it’s tough enough to deliver presents to kids in one place itself, but imagine having to cover all 24 time zones. Yes, that does mean many more hours than a standard night, but surely Santa Claus could use some help knowing what time it is in places where he hasn’t already made his drop. Hence, we have not one, but two world-timer watches that might be right for Santa Claus on the night of Christmas Eve.

The Jacob & Co Epic SF24

Inspired by retro flight indicators in airports and their split flaps that rapidly flip to change destinations and timings and other information, this SF24 has two of those things. The split-flap 24-hour indicator on top of the main dial has names of cities representing time zones, alongside the times in those zones, in hours. With 24 time zones covered, it doesn’t account for the time differences shorter than an hour, but it does provide fairly enough information, even if Santa Claus has to refer to the minute hand on the main dial. With a 48-hour power reserve, the automatic movement should be more than sufficient for Santa Claus this Christmas.

Arnold & Son Globetrotter

A birds’ eye view of the Earth is what Santa Claus gets when he’s up there in his sleigh. So why not show him the map on his wrist; not for navigation, but for time across the zones. The nicely decorated globe on the dial of this watch shows the time in all the 24 main time zones all at once, via the 24-hour ring, around the globe. Sleek bridges hold the globe in place over the domed glass and join the 45mm case—in steel, rose gold or platinum—on the bezel, on diametrically opposite ends. The automatic movement that runs the world (time) offers a sufficient power reserve of 45 hours.

A Bell & Ross Full-Lume For Santa Claus

Flying around at night means Santa Claus needs a clear view of the time, because delivering presents is, of course, a time-sensitive matter. A watch that glows in the dark would surely be handy for someone who works the night shift. Why not then have the entire dial—and while we’re at it, even the strap—light up in the dark. Hence, we have here a Bell & Ross BR 03-92 that is fully luminescent, barring the black ceramic of the 42mm case. To top this, this pick for Santa Claus is from Bell & Ross’s Instruments collection—their ode to airplane cockpit instruments. As an aviation watch, it’s definitely suited for a guy flying around, spreading joy.

The Oris Kermit For Santa Claus

And joy he does spread! Another perfect wrist companion for Santa Claus would be the Oris Big Crown ProPilot X Kermit. Also an aviation timepiece, this one is fitting too for Santa Claus as he flies around the world during Christmastime. Further to that, it’s a Kermit watch. The Sesame Street character is known to spread joy, making everyone happy. That’s what inspired Oris for this watch, and it’s also what Santa Claus is all about. With Kermit ready to pop into the date window on New Year’s Day, Santa Claus can also find some joy from this watch after he’s done with all his hard work over the holidays. The icing on the cake is the green, which is a Christmas colour, and was allegedly Santa Claus’s colour too at some point. This 39mm titanium watch runs on a five-day Oris automatic movement.

Out of this world, and timing his flight

The Omega Moonwatch For Santa Claus

Flying around the world delivering presents to kids all over, all in one night—Santa Claus really sounds like he’s out of this world, and hence he deserves a watch that’s literally been in outer space. Of course it’s the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, which is literally the only watch that’s been on the moon. So if Santa Claus flies too high, he can rest assured that his watch will still keep ticking. This timeless icon also provides Saint Nick a chronograph function to time his flights and trips around the world, quite like it helped the NASA astronauts on various Apollo missions. This version though is the Master Chronometer edition—with Omega’s advanced accuracy—which was launched in 2021. The manual-winding movement within the 42mm steel case can store a sufficient 50-hour reserve of power.

A Jacob & Co In Red And White For Santa Claus

Another chronograph, this one is bigger, bolder, more opulent, and flashy like Santa Claus’s suit. A Jacob & Co Epic X Chronograph in rose gold, it is sized at a whopping 47mm, and houses a semi-skeletonised column-wheel chronograph movement—a 48-hour automatic—that can be seen partially through the red mineral crystal dial. The red is offset by the white ceramic bezel, like the trim on Santa Claus’s jacket, and complemented by a white rubber strap. In addition to the stopwatch function, another feature that Santa Claus might find handy is the 60-minute timer on the inner bezel that can be rotated using the crown at 10 o’clock.
