Ryan Gosling In The Fall Guy

Oscar-nominated actor Ryan Gosling stars in the upcoming action film The Fall Guy, which is based on a 1980s’ TV series about a stunt performer and his adventures. Gosling, who’s been a TAG Heuer brand ambassador for quite some time now, has been known to wear watches from the Carrera collection even off-screen—at the Oscars most recently, while he performed his Barbie song, ‘I’m just Ken’. At the Oscars, he even made a presentation with his Fall Guy co-star, Oppenheimer Oscar nominee Emily Blunt. The Fall Guy had a premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in March 2024.

In The Fall Guy, Gosling is seen wearing a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph—one of the ‘glass box’ editions that were unveiled last year, to mark the 60th anniversary of the motor-sport watch collection. It’s an apt choice for a film like The Fall Guy, because the racing-inspired watch will be seen in fast-paced action sequences and so on. The movie is slated for a May 2024 release.

Another actor in another film, Zac Efron was spotted wearing an Oris watch in his new comedy, Ricky Stanicky, which released on Prime Video in March 2024. The ‘R-rated comedy’, which is the tagline on the movie’s poster, is about three friends who have a non-existent ‘friend’ called Ricky Stanicky, whose name they use as an alibi to hide their shenanigans. Efron leads the film, in which he is wears an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Cervo Volante edition. This classic aviation watch, with an analogue date display comes with a leather strap made from the hides of red deer that have to be culled for environmental reasons. Cervo Volante is the organisation that makes leather goods from these hides. These Oris straps are also made by them.

The Brazilian football icon had on his wrist the Casino Tourbillon, which is a 101-piece limited-edition watch, which features a working roulette wheel on the dial. It can be operated using a trigger on the left-hand side of the case. The wheel spins and the ball eventually lands in one of the pockets, just like a roulette wheel you’d see in a casino. Within the roulette wheel is the main timekeeping dial, which is made from black onyx, and has golden markers and hands. Jacob & Co created the Casino Tourbillon to pay tribute to the 1960s’ casinos in Monte Carlo.

Connor McGregor At The Road House Premiere

The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Champion) fighter, Connor McGregor made an appearance at the premiere event for Road House, the new Prime Video film starring Jake Gyllenhaal as an ex-UFC fighter. The premiere was in March 2024. McGregor, who features in the film, was wearing a limited-edition watch from Jacob & Co at the event. This was the Jacob & Co Godfather timepiece, which has a music box inside it that plays the theme of the Godfather movies. It was created by the brand because of the connection that founder Jacob Arabo has with the films. “When I first came to the USA from Uzbekistan in 1979, I was 14 years old, didn’t speak the language and my family didn’t have a penny to their name,” Arabo has stated. “It took me two years to earn the time and money to go to the movies. The Godfather was being released again; it was the first movie I saw in a theatre.”
