The I.N.O.X. in just a short span of time has become Victorinox’s flagship watch, solely because they’ve set really high standards that any watch in the world will find hard to match up to – an all-terrain, ultra-rugged watch built with strength and resilience and subjected to 130 extremely gruelling tests to withstand whatever time throws at it. You can drop it from a height of 33ft, leave it in a washing machine or sandstorm for two hours and maybe roll a tank over it! The INOX has proved itself that it can withstand it all. Victorinox announced their partnership with Naimakka, a Swedish company that specializes in making Paracord tool bracelets, which thus gave the already rugged watch a new, utilitarian life. Before we go in depth about the watch, you should know why these paracord “Naimakka” bracelets are much more than just a strap.
More than A Strap:
Naimakka is a company that produces bracelets made out of a specially woven ‘Paracord’. They were first introduced as a ‘survival tool’ based on the thought that a durable rope can be a lifesaver.
Since its introduction to the world, Naimakka Paracord bracelets are perceived more as a sort of fashion statement for those who would like to appear adventurous. But let me tell you, it’s a lot more than that.
Paratroopers have deemed Paracords as an essential life-saving, multi-purpose tool ever since they were found. How, you ask? When the cord is unbraided (untangled), you can use the bracelet to build shelter, tie gear to your backpack or hang food out of reach from animals. You could also use it to make a fishing line, traps, snow shoes, a bow drill for making fire, or a splint for a broken ankle. Paracord is so reliable and durable that astronauts have used it to make repairs to the Hubble Space Telescope! And if you’re marooned in a barren island with no hope for months, you could unravel the yarns, use it as sewing thread, make a DIY dental floss and even go to the extremes of making a fishing net out of it. If you did that, you’d probably lose your watch strap but hey! that strap alone has the ability to save your life.

The biggest irony, however, is that the Naimakka bracelet can be untangled only once. Meaning that once you unravel it, you no longer have a bracelet. Victorinox though has claimed that it will ensure each unravelled Naimakka watch bracelet is “re-woven for free”, provided it’s sent back to them along with a valid reason as to why you required to use the rope.
The Rugged Watch Gets Better:
Coming back to the watch, the I.N.O.X. as we know is a solidly built watch that withstands almost anything that comes its way. The dial and the basic 43mm-wide, 200-meter water resistant steel case containing a Swiss Ronda 715 quartz movement remains unchanged. The new edition comes with a special clear, removable plastic case guard (unlike the earlier version) with compass navigational markers on it, courtesy Victorinox.
Fans of both Victorinox and Naimakka have a lot to rejoice, they finally have a true watch that can withstand the extremes (and can probably save your life).
