Round-UpPresenting The Top Five Dive Watches From Favre Leuba

Since the 1960s, Favre Leuba have been focusing on producing some of the most robust dive watches that have stood the test of time and survived, even when plummeted into the greater depths of the seas. Here’s our pick of their top-five exceptional dive timers

May We Recommend

Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth

The original Bathy model was born in the 1960s, an era when dive watches were the order of the day. And in 2018, Favre Leuba decided to pay tribute to this iconic timepiece with the introduction of Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth—a tool watch that holds pride of place in Favre Leuba’s dive watches segment. Crafted in titanium with a case measuring 48mm, the watch offers a water resistance of up to 200m, thanks to solid and robust caseback. The Raider Bathy 120 MemoDepth has a mechanical depth gauge function. The sub-dial at three o’clock shows the maximum depth one has reached during a dive. As the diver descends and the depth increases, the central as well as the small blue hands rotate clockwise to indicate the current depth. There is also a unidirectional bezel, made with an anodised aluminium insert, and offers unmatched calculations during diving sessions. The watch also offers decompression stops indicated by red markers and these are important for safer diving experiences and help with regulated stops for better acclimatisation of the diver. It is driven by the manual winding Calibre FL321, which supplies the watch with an energy reserve of at least 65 hours.

Raider Harpoon

Launched in 2016, the Raider Harpoon exemplifies Favre Leuba’s watchmaking prowess, especially when it comes to robust tool watches. The watch has a unique timekeeping display and offers a water resistance of up to 500m. Crafted in stainless steel, it features a cushion-shaped case, measuring 46mm, offering a robust presence on the wrist. The highlight here is the helium escape valve at two o’clock—a necessary element for all professional dive watches as it protects the case from damage, and a unidirectional rotating bezel, which helps to measure dive time with ease. The curved lugs and knurled crown render the watch exceptionally ergonomic. The time-telling mechanism here is unique since it features only a single hand in order not to distract the diver and it displays both the hours and minutes, which can be read easily even in low light conditions, thanks to the luminous hour markers and indexes. It is presented on either a leather or rubber strap and is driven by an automatic movement with a power reserve of at least 38 hours.

Raider Deep Blue

A versatile timekeeper, the Raider Deep Blue maintains a fine balance between keeping a bold and rugged exterior along with a sophisticated undertone. Inspired by one of their first dive watches—the Deep Blue, this timepiece comes with a 300m water resistance, high legibility, and ergonomic construction. The 44mm stainless-steel timepiece comes with a unidirectional rotating bezel and features dials with various colour schemes. The bezel is made of anodised aluminium and is used to measure elapsed time during dive sessions. The watch has a unique setup when it comes to displaying the seconds. Mounted over the central axis, they are displayed with a rotating disc for both aesthetical and practical reasons. The high waterproofness is also achieved due to its robust construction with a screw-in crown and the screwed caseback. The watch is available in several variations presented on either leather or rubber straps and are powered by an automatic movement providing an energy supply of about 38 hours.

Raider Sea King

The Raider Sea King captures the essence of balanced watchmaking by bridging functionality and aesthetics. Back in the day, the original Sea King was one of the first timepieces to house Favre Leuba’s first manufacture Calibre FL 101, however, today it’s sealed its place as one of the most versatile, everyday wear watches from the brand as it stands out for its sporty elegance. Crafted in solid stainless steel, the watch measures 41mm and offers a water resistance of up to 300m. This cushion-shaped case is inspired by the watches produced by Favre Leuba during the 1960s, and this imparts a more rugged and retro look. The integrated lugs comfortably hug the wrist for ultimate comfort. It is available in the dial options, in hues of blue, black or grey—all beautifully finished. The watch showcases a slew of elegant details and functional elements that that deliver excellence on both sides of the shoreline. Presented on a steel bracelet or a leather strap, the watch is driven by an automatic movement with a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.

Raider Sea Sky

Built for adventures and suitable for all terrains, the Sea Sky is a highly robust and sporty chronograph with a water resistance of up to 200m. Its signature cushion-shaped case exhibits a robust construction as it combines the functionality of a chronograph with the practical benefits of a rotating bezel. It features the similar design cues as found in the original watch from the 1960s—a blue bezel with white numerals, an inner minute ring done in white, and features the same simple hour and ‘diamond’ minute hands. Notable differences are the hour markers, which are almost the same as the brand’s newly released timepieces i.e. raised rectangular indexes filled with blue Super-LumiNova. All chronograph functions have red hands, i.e., chronograph registers (at three and six o’clock) have red hands that pair with the central seconds hand, whilst the running seconds (at nine o’clock) has a black hand, thereby giving quick visual references for seasoned chronograph users. The watch is crafted in stainless steel and measures 44mm, however, it’s pretty comfortable on the wrist. It is powered by the Valjoux Calibre 7200, which is operated by two ergonomic pushers on either side of the crown.
