The new 1000-piece limited-run Luminox Pacific Diver Thank You For Your Service pays ode to first responders who save lives and ensure your mental wellbeing

The promotional campaign of the Luminox Pacific Diver 3120 unveiled on September 1 is a sight for sore eyes. Here, four ruggedly handsome men with chiseled bodies, heavily tattooed and glistening, hug US national flags, and flaunt the intense black-and-purple Luminox watch. Like the Australian Firefighters Calendar, thriving on a ‘pay tribute and also titillate’ model, the men promoting this Luminox watch are likewise first responders, either emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, firefighters, or police officers, and in selfless occupations such as teachers and counsellors. Known as the Luminox Thank You for Your Service, the 1,000-piece limited-run timepiece fits in the brand’s legacy of designing watches for jet fighter pilots, divers, US Navy Seals, Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk jet pilots, etc. It symbolises appreciation for professionals who work long hours in perilous zones for SAR (search and rescue) missions or conduct difficult surgeries, save lives, and ensure your wellbeing.
Colour Me Purple: Thank You For Your Service
Purple universally represents valour, leadership, faith, and sacredness. An indirect reference to the blood of the martyred. Hence, an ideal colour choice for the Luminox Pacific Diver 3120. Further, the heartfelt sentence, ‘Thank You For Your Service’ as a purple ticker running along the dial from 12 o’clock to 4:30 (between four o’clock and five o’clock) and engraved at the caseback, provides clarity of intention. The brand has recognised four such men and one woman in the line of duty. There’s retired US Marine Raider Marc Arrington who felt compelled to join the military after the September 9/11 tragedy. Alex Griff from Chicago is the lieutenant and training officer at the Hazel Crest Fire Department, and has served for 20 years. Ken Murphy from South Florida is the assistant team leader on SWAT and training unit sergeant. Ian Schinelli from Chicago is a retired US Navy Seal. Paediatric nurse Cathy Daniels has shown exceptional presence of mind providing first aid and care during COVID and in her 28 years of service, and teaches nursing professionals at the University of Toronto.
Built For Selfless Service
All the black elements—the 44mm case, and screwed-in caseback and protected crown—are made from 316L stainless steel. Atop the case is the unidirectional-rotating bezel, made from CARBONOX™. This material is made from carbon powder, which is six times lighter than steel. The dial has coloured light tubes that dispel the unique Luminox light technology, lasting 25 years. For seamless time gazing in the dark, the outer minute tracker—instead of the hour markers—have green luminescent markings like the hour and seconds hands, while the minute hand has an orange lume material, and 12 o’clock indicated in blue. This multi-hued setup is a boon for first responders to quickly glance at the time or time oneself in treacherous conditions. The Luminox logo sits just below 12 o’clock, and date window at three o’clock. Sealing the dial from external elements is the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
Luminox Thank You for Your Service runs on the dynamic Swiss Quartz Ronda 515, a three-hand Swiss quartz movement offering 50 months of battery life. The caseback deserves special mention. Apart from listing the prime features of the watch, including the 200m water resistance, the most important element of this edition is the central star engraving, like a badge of honour, with the core displaying the year of the brand’s inception—1989. The watch comes attached to a purple cut-to-fit rubber strap, and complimentary black rubber strap for a tone-on-tone look; both fitted with 316L stainless steel signature buckle.
Very few instances allow common public to express gratitude to the people in such ‘thankless’ professions, and instances like Luminox Thank You for Your Service allows you to change that.
