Bremont’s mission objectives appear clear—to bring ambitious and quality watchmaking back to Britain and offer rugged, highly functional mechanical watches. These robust timepieces highlight the brand’s unwavering zeal for perfection and an appetite for creative breakthroughs. With a foundation deeply rooted in precision timekeeping, all Bremont watches are subjected to an exhaustive quality control regimen and every timepiece within their core collection is accompanied by a performance certificate, meaning that its mechanical movement successfully cleared all the demanding precision assessments required for the ISO 3159 chronometer certification. With a range of bespoke projects commissioned by various arms of the British Armed Forces in their portfolio, Bremont proudly stand as the exclusive timekeeping partner of the British Ministry of Defence. This accomplishment not only honours the late Queen Elizabeth II’s commitment to the armed forces but also grants Bremont the exclusive privilege of utilising the emblems, icons, and Heraldic Badges of all three distinguished services; the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force. With that, the brand moved forward and in 2020 the Broadsword Bronze timepieces were introduced to the line-up, adding to the original range in Bremont’s Armed Forces collection.
The Bremont Broadsword Bronze: A Show Of Strength, Endurance, And Style
Adding to the legacy of the original three-hander Broadsword in steel, the Bremont Broadsword Bronze timepieces are housed inside a bronze body that proves its mettle in naval engineering, thanks to its remarkable resistance to saltwater corrosion. The new Broadsword case is made of CuSn8 bronze, which has been melded with tin to engineer an alloy that promises greater strength, wear, and resistance to corrosion.
Even though the watch remains contemporary in its technical and aesthetic approach, it still faithfully wears the ‘Dirty Dozen’ watch design—a collection of timepieces specially ordered for the British Army during World War II. The Broadsword Bronze is an echo of bygone eras, a poignant reminder of the valour and sacrifice displayed by the courageous soldiers who, with unwavering bravery, conquered tyranny. Borrowing this design philosophy enables the Broadsword Bronze to rendezvous with the heritage of military watches and in present times stand as a formidable emblem of moral virtue, amplifying their allure.
Available in three dial variations, Bremont’s Broadsword Bronze comes packed inside a solid case with a diameter of 40mm, featuring a screw-down crown in bronze and a closed stainless steel 316L caseback displaying embossed detailing, ‘Approved by Her Majesty’s Armed Forces’, and the symbols of the three British forces. The hardy case, water-resistant up to 100m, has also been coupled with a domed anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass.
The Bremont Broadsword Bronze: A Dial That Tells Tales Of The Past
The dial of the Broadsword Bronze is made from metal and the numerals have been treated with Super-LumiNova, along with the hands in bronze, with a satin finish. Sotek, tobacco, and slate are the three dial options that make for subtle watch faces. While the sotek dial is a muted blue-green colour that gives the Broadsword Bronze its unique appeal, the tobacco and slate are gentle hues of brown and grey, respectively.
The slate dial finds its perfect complement in a sophisticated grey vintage-style leather strap, while the tobacco and sotek dials strike a captivating contrast with their brown nubuck straps that become one with the copper of the body, where the tan strap for the sotek dial features white stitching. To make it a perfect fit for any occasion, these models can also be worn with a stainless steel bracelet or a sailcloth strap, either in a khaki or navy shade.
Every Bremont timepiece is hand-built by Bremont-trained assemblers in the maison’s manufacturing and technology centre in Henley-on-Thames—a hallowed ground for British watchmaking. Bremont have thoughtfully chosen to build a Broadsword watch with copper. As an ever-evolving metal, each model is bound to acquire its distinguished and exclusive patina over time, ensuring that every watch becomes truly one-of-a-kind, and no two timepieces will ever share the same appearance.
