Speake-Marin’s One & Two Openworked Sandblasted for 2023 brings to the forefront the concepts of harmony and balance in watch design. This collection embodies the contemporary style of Speake-Marin, and it is centred around the signature Piccadilly case.
The Inspiration Behind The Openworked Sandblasted
In this collection, Speake-Marin invites you to embark on a journey that draws inspiration from the great watchmakers of the past. The collection offers a unique experience in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where art and craftsmanship converge with limitless human creativity.
The collection expands with two new variations; the Openworked Sandblasted Titanium and the Openworked Sandblasted Red Gold. Both the watches feature a sandblasted grey dial, giving them a distinctive appearance due to the different light reflections on the red gold and titanium cases. Speake-Marin’s signature Piccadilly case, designed by Eric Giroud in 2017, is now available in polished grade-5 titanium or 18-karat red gold. You can choose between two sizes: 38mm and 42mm, with a thickness of 10.5mm. The glass and caseback are in anti reflective sapphire crystal.
Featuring a technique that results in a refined yet rough texture, the grey dial works perfectly against the polished titanium and red gold case materials While the visible movement parts are meticulously finished, the minute indications and small seconds counter are applied using an innovative 3D technique. The seconds hand and the hour and minute hands are either polished black in the titanium version, or gold-coated in the red gold version, for optimal legibility.
Within The Openworked Sandblasted
At the heart of the two Speake-Marin One & Two Openworked Sandblasted watches is the self-winding in-house calibre SMA01. Designed and assembled by Le Cercle des Horlogers in La Chaux-de-Fonds, this movement helps keep the case thickness down, owing to its micro-rotor. It operates at 28,800vph and offers a 52-hour power reserve. The SMA01 showcases exquisite watchmaking decorations visible through a sapphire crystal porthole, featuring sandblasted bridges, a decorated oscillating mass, and more. The barrel displays the eight fundamental values of Speake-Marin.
Depending on the version of the watch, it comes with a grey or black leather strap, complemented by a buckle in 18-karat red gold or titanium.
