This journey began in 2011 when Bell & Ross collaborated with Shaw Harley-Davidson to craft a distinctive motorcycle, known as the Nascafe Racer Bell & Ross, with the iconic circle-within-a-square timepiece displayed on the console. In 2014, Bell & Ross paid homage to the golden age of two-wheel speed records with the extraordinary B-Rocket. This concept bike, inspired by the first jet planes designed in the USA, was a collaborative creation with engineers from Shaw Harley-Davidson. The B-Rocket served as direct inspiration for Bruno Belamich, the creative director of Bell & Ross, who subsequently designed two instrument watches—the BR 01 chronograph and its counterpart, the BR 03 B-Rocket. In keeping with this passion, the 2023 BR 03-94 BlackTrack chronograph unfolds a new chapter in this adventurous saga.

The BR 03-94 BlackTrack And Its Design Language

Bike enthusiasts are in for a real treat with this timepiece. The dial of the BR 03-94 BlackTrack adopts the aesthetic of a dashboard, enhancing its design with elements reminiscent of a high-performance vehicle’s control panel, while the chronograph counters incorporate the distinct design found on motorcycle handlebars. Among all other features, the most noteworthy highlight, we think, is that the BR 03-94 BlackTrack chronograph is designed to seamlessly integrate into the centre of the motorcycle console—a modern-day feature that helps you track time, hands-free, on the go. From the wrist to the dashboard, this effortless transition is a complete symbiosis between the two machines. The racy 42mm timepiece also comes with the 42-hour automatic calibre BR-CAL.301 to ensure it doesn’t time out on your important adventures and can also withstand depths up to 100m.

The watch’s good looks and imposing character mirror the exquisite aesthetics of the motorbike with its polished, matt black ceramic case and black calfskin strap, finished with a striking red trim and reinforced with high-resistance technical material. For that secure grip while riding, the strap is fastened with a steel pin buckle adorned with a black PVD coating. Drawing inspiration from motorcycle saddle covers and riders’ attire, the strap features a quilted pattern, adding a sporty touch to the overall design. In addition, the octagonal bezel and the distinctive flat, angular surfaces establish a harmonious interplay between the grey and black tones, drawing inspiration from the brand’s enduring passion for the world of aeronautics. The subtle brushed finish on the sub-dials captures attention, while the red tips on the chronograph hands and the date in red provide a vibrant pop of colour. This date stands out against the grey of the dial, and placed at six o’clock, it doesn’t kill the symmetry and the aesthetic of the bicompax layout.

Combining design, technique and performance, the sleek and sporty exterior of this contemporary timepiece presents a play on textures and detailing. The unique sub-dials echo the form of motorcycle handlebars, while the superimposition of the chronograph second hand forms the ‘B’ for BlackTrack. Additionally, the Super-LumiNova treatment on the indices and hands is a fine finishing touch on this limited edition of 500 pieces.
