The future of motorsport is electric, and it’s bringing a new level of technological advancements and sustainability to the highest levels of racing. At the vanguard of this emerging frontier is Formula E, the world’s first all-electric open-wheel racing series. Among the teams competing in this groundbreaking championship is Maserati MSG Racing, where historic Italian automotive passion has merged with cutting-edge EV performance. In a celebration of this marriage of heritage and innovation, independent Swiss watchmaker Bianchet have partnered with Maserati MSG Racing on a limited edition collection that fuses precision timekeeping with a distinctly racing-inspired attitude.
The Bianchet x Maserati MSG Racing Flying Tourbillon Grande Date watches are unapologetically bold, with angular cases inspired by the sculpted aerodynamic forms found in modern race car design. Yet they possess an undeniable Italian flair, with sweeping lines and pops of vivid blue rubber accents that are a nod to Maserati’s iconic racing livery colours.
From The Racetrack To Your Wrist
The Flying Tourbillon Grande Date comes in two limited editions, each capped at 21 pieces. The first is crafted from Bianchet’s exclusive high-density carbon composite infused with titanium powder, dubbed Titanium-Dust-High-Density Carbon. The second combines titanium and carbon, showcasing a marriage of materials that’s as robust as it is lightweight. Both editions feature blue rubber accents on the case and crown, inspired by Maserati’s team colours.
A Closer Look At The Dial And Movement
The dial is a masterclass in functional design, featuring an outermost flange with blue-accented minute markers at five-minute intervals. The baton hour and minute hands, also accented in blue, ensure readability while adding a touch of elegance. At the 12 o’clock position, the Maserati trident logo replaces the usual Bianchet logo, accompanied by the Maserati MSG Racing insignia. The tourbillon at six o’clock, highlighted against a blue backdrop, retains Bianchet’s signature, making a bold statement.
Underneath its dial, the Flying Tourbillon Grande Date houses a titanium skeleton flying tourbillon movement, renowned for its precision and durability. This movement features a big date display and is engineered to withstand shocks up to 5,000G. The watch is also water-resistant up to 100m, making it a resilient companion for daily wear. It impresses with a 90-hour power reserve.
Comfort Meets Craftsmanship
The natural vulcanised rubber strap, available in blue or black, is secured with a titanium folding clasp. This ensures not only comfort but also durability, making it suitable for daily wear. The lightweight construction, with the carbon edition weighing 55 gm and the hybrid titanium-carbon edition at 63 gm (excluding the strap), underscores the watch’s practicality without compromising on luxury.
Exclusive Ownership Experience
The Bianchet x Maserati MSG Racing Flying Tourbillon Grande Date is more than a timepiece; it’s an experience. Owners are invited to Maserati MSG Racing’s headquarters in Monaco, where they can interact with the racing team and experience the thrill of driving the team’s advanced racing simulator. This unique opportunity allows watch enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the world of Formula E, adding a personal connection to their timepiece.
A Statement Of Precision And Elegance
The Bianchet x Maserati MSG Racing Flying Tourbillon Grande Date is designed for those who crave the very intersection of high-octane racing thrills and haute horlogerie craftsmanship, and these timepieces seem to have merged those worlds in a manner befitting both of their prestigious names.
