Bovet unveils a groundbreaking solution to the perennial challenge faced by world time watches with the introduction of the Bovet Récital 28 Prowess 1. This innovative timepiece, a first-of-its-kind, addresses the complexities of Daylight Saving Time (DST) variations across different countries. Featuring a revolutionary roller system, the watch offers seamless adjustment to any of the 24 time zones, including UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), AST (American Summer Time), EAS (Europe and American Summer Time), and EWT (European Winter Time).
Daylight Saving Time (DST) emerged during World War I, initially aimed at conserving energy and maximising daylight utilisation. While some nations embraced this practice, others, particularly those closer to the equator, remained indifferent. The inconsistent adoption of DST globally has posed significant challenges in determining accurate time across various regions, leading to disruptions in the realm of timekeeping during certain periods annually.
In the domain of multiple time zone watches, the House of Bovet boasts a rich and illustrious heritage. Since its establishment in the 1800s, Bovet has been a prominent figure, offering a diverse range of timepieces from dual-time and triple-time zone watches to sophisticated world timepieces.
The Bovet Récital 28 Prowess 1 – In Detail
Prior to the highly anticipated global debut of Bovet’s remarkable timepiece, meticulous groundwork was already in progress. Upon Pascal Raffy’s acquisition of Bovet in 2001, the visionary owner harbored ambitions of crafting an extraordinary universal timepiece capable of adapting to the unpredictable nature of global time zones. Thus, the stage was set for the unveiling of the Récital 28 Prowess 1.
After more than five years of dedicated development, the Récital 28 Prowess 1 emerges onto the horological scene, poised to revolutionize terrestrial timekeeping. It pledges to address longstanding challenges in global timekeeping, ensuring precision and reliability. Boasting intricate hand-finishing and exquisitely hand-engraved bridges, this exceptional timepiece is offered in a choice of 43mm cases crafted from 18K Red Gold, 950 Platinum, and Grade 5 Titanium, exemplifying the pinnacle of craftsmanship and innovation.
Unlike traditional world time watches, the Récital 28 Prowess 1 debuts a remarkably intricate and innovative roller system, setting new standards for global timekeeping. This innovative mechanism empowers globetrotters to effortlessly adjust the timepiece to any of the 24 global time zones, encompassing UTC, American Summertime, Europe and America Summertime, and European Wintertime. The 24 rollers each have four positions, all controlled through the crown. Pushing the crown rotates each individual cylinder 90 degrees, so every time zone can be individually set.
Beyond its distinctive timekeeping capabilities, the Récital 28 Prowess 1 showcases an expanded flying tourbillon, a perpetual calendar with roller-based indications, and an impressive 10-day power reserve sourced from a single barrel.
This exceptional timepiece is produced in extremely limited quantities, with each movement requiring weeks of meticulous assembly. As a result, the brand meticulously handcrafts just eight pieces annually, ensuring unparalleled attention to detail and exclusivity.
