In celebration of 140 years in watchmaking this year, Breitling have been issuing new releases since the start of 2024. Mid-2024, the Swiss watchmakers decided to return to their old tradition of churning out mid-range, sport/athleisure chronographs, by extending their Professional collection with Endurance Pro chronographs in two case sizes—44mm and 38mm. The 38mm Breitling Endurance Pro comes in five colour options, with matching inner bezel rings, minute tracks, crowns, and rubber straps in light blue, pink, purple, red and white, while the 44mm Endurance Pro comes in light blue, navy, orange, and white options. Moreover, these COSC-certified chronometers are being championed by a quartet of Ironman triathletes who are friends of the brand.
A Testament In Endurance And Comfortable Body Structure
Breitling have carried forward the legacy of starting out as chronograph specialists in 1884 and issuing the first ever wrist-worn chronograph in 1915, featuring a pusher separate from the crown. The Breitling Professional collection was started by Willy Breitling, from the third generation of the family-run business, who wanted to bring the tool watches to the masses, especially working professionals. Fulfilling this tradition is the new Endurance Pro, designed to weather all kinds of natural environments in the air, land or water, and especially catering to professionals working in the space such as pilots, sailors, swimmers, runners, and those in the armed forces.
The prime design trait that encourages superior durability is the material used to making the ultra-lightweight case. It is made from Breitlight, which is proven to be 5.8 times lighter than steel and three times lighter than titanium. Lightness in weight aside, Breitlight makes the watch thermally stable, non-magnetic, hypoallergenic, and resistant to corrosion and scratches. Available in bright hues, the watch features a dual-tone aesthetic, with a black case that meets a bright hue on the inner bezel ring, outer minute track, crown and strap. Additionally, straps are made from tactile rubber, also coated on the crown for a good grip. Water-resistant to 100m robust case is features a bidirectional-rotating bezel, with compass scale.
The Endurance Of The Superior Quartz Calibre
The 2020 first issue Endurance Pro versions were sized at 44mm, housing the Breitling calibre 82, offering upto 70-hour power reserve. It’s only with the 2024 launch that the brand offer the option of a reduced case size of 38mm, to cater to smaller wrists, and switch to a robust, yet lightweight movement made with thermocompensated SuperQuartz™ technology, proven to be 10 times more accurate than conventional quartz. Both the 44m and 38mm versions offer the wearer the ability to check their pulse, time intervals down to 1/10th of a second, and check their location via the inbuilt solar compass.
Athlete Brand Loyalists
Along with the launch of Breitling Endurance Pro, the brand have also introduced two new sportspersons to their existing ‘triathlon squad’, under the annual Ironman World Championship dating, back to 1978, in Hawaii. Held under the World Triathlon Corporation with separate qualification races since 2023. The new friends of the brand are the women’s world champion Lucy Charles-Barclay and the youngest male winner in Ironman history, Sam Laidlow. The previous two brand-loyalist sportspersons were the multi-title-holders, German triathlete Jan Frodeno (three-time winner of the Ironman World Championship) and the Swiss triathlete Daniela Ryf (five-time title holder of the Ironman World Championship).
