ReviewBremont’s First Integrated-Bracelet Sport Watch: The H1 Generation Supernova

Deviating from their usual aviation instruments, the Bremont H1 Generation Supernova delves into the busy territory of integrated-bracelet steel watches with ease

May We Recommend

The youthful allure of Bremont is rooted in their spirit of aviation, making it one of those labels that everyone veers towards for an edgy classic. In 2022, they have finally delved into the sport watch category with two of the genre’s most compulsive tells—made in steel and with an integrated bracelet. A sure-shot formula to success—it’s hard to find a brand today that doesn’t offer integrated timepieces—the British brand embody their attributed style with features that are quintessentially Bremont. This is the H1 Generation Supernova.

The Bremont H1 Generation Supernova houses the ENG375 movement from the ENG300 series—the first in-house movement to power a core collection of 40mm timepieces

An Ode To England

What makes the Bremont H1 Generation Supernova special is that it houses the ENG375 movement, from their ENG300 series—their first in-house movement to power a core collection of 40mm timepieces. Manufactured at their state-of-the-art facility anointed ‘The Wing’, the ENG300 series marks the first time in 50 years that a movement has been built to such a degree on British shores. Even the name ‘Bremont H1 Timing Standard’, Bremont’s chronometer testing standard, is a tribute to John Harrison’s first ‘H1’ marine timekeeper, and a reference to Bremont’s home in Henley-on-Thames. With a 65-hour power reserve, each ENG300-powered timepiece comes with the promise of an extended five-year warranty.

The Flawlessly British Generation Supernova

Factoring in the essence of a sport watch with an integrated steel bracelet, the 40mm wide and 11.1mm thick Supernova case comes with elegant curves, integrated lugs and a matching integrated bracelet with a beautiful T-link structure. The modernist ‘trip-tick’ case looks sleek, and has intricate finishing, executed over 12 steps of hand and machine work, as well as grinding, and polishing, to ensure that the satin grain and polished facets are flawless across each case layer. This finish is continued in the bracelet, which meets with a butterfly clasp featuring the Bremont propeller icon.

The Watch Guide

In true Bremont fashion, at six o’clock, the power reserve indicator takes after a fuel gauge that one might see in the cockpit of an aircraft

The timepiece is available in three variants—midnight blue, pitch black or ‘albus’. While the pitch black and albus come emblazoned with Arabic numeral hour markers, the midnight blue dons classic stick indexes. What binds the variants is a raised centre, sunken big date and Super-LumiNova markings on the hours, minutes and seconds hand. And in true Bremont fashion, at six o’clock, the power reserve indicator takes after a fuel gauge that one might see in the cockpit of an aircraft.

With this timepiece, the genre of integrated sport watches expands, while Bremont have made it a point to ensure that the English remain very much a part of the watchmaking game.
