Round-UpCelebrity Watch—Jan 2024: Actors Wearing IWC, Omega, And More
As 'celebrity watch' takes a break from the Hollywood awards season, here’s a smattering of Swiss watch sightings on celebrities from film and TV, at assorted events
May We Recommend
Kevin O’Leary
H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack
Kevin O’Leary, the Canadian businessman, who is best known—in the public eye—as a ‘shark’ investor on the hit reality series Sharktank, was recently seen wearing two watches at the same time. The TV personality was testifying before the American Congress in relation to a certain case that he was involved with. While seated at the table, he was wearing an F.P.Journe on one wrist, and an H. Moser & Cie. on the other. The H. Moser was one of their ‘Concept’ watches, with no dial markings, aside from hands. This Endeavour though, also features a tourbillon—the cage seen at six o’clock. With a dial made of Vantablack—the darkest substance made by humankind—his Endeavour came with a custom strap in red leather, while the default is in black.
Andrew Garfield
Omega Speedmaster Dark Side Of The Moon Apollo 8
At a recent dinner event during Paris Fashion Week, with Omega as partners, actor Andrew Garfield was there as a friend of the brand. The Spider-Man actor, who has been seen wearing only watches from Omega over the last couple of years, was even spotted posing with Omega’s CEO Raynald Aeschlimann, who was also in attendance. Garfield was wearing the latest Speedmaster watch—the Dark Side Of The Moon Apollo 8, which was unveiled just earlier this month. While this is not the first ‘Dark Side…’ watch from Omega, this is the most advanced, with high-tech laser work used to create textures of the moon on the dial and the caseback. The latter presents the texture of the dark side of the moon, which was only seen by the astronauts of NASA’s Apollo 8 mission, which went around the moon. A unique addition to this new version is the small seconds hand at nine o’clock, which is fashioned after the Saturn V launch vehicle—used for all of NASA’s Apollo missions.
Barry Keoghan
IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition ‘Lake Tahoe’
And back to Barry Keoghan… The Irish actor was seen wearing an IWC as well this month, at the beginning of January actually. This was when he turned up for an event surrounding the Louis Vuitton pop-up activation, to celebrate their spring/summer 2024 collection, with men’s creative director Pharrell Williams at the helm. The Oscar-nominated actor wore a blue ombre, monogrammed Louis Vuitton jacket, and offset the hue with a stark white ceramic Pilot’s Watch. From the Top Gun series of the aviation watch collection, the white draws from the colour of the snow-capped mountains seen around Lake Tahoe in west United States. This area is a site for the training of pilots of the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor programme, otherwise known as Top Gun.
