Chronoswiss explore the vastness of space with two new timepieces, the Space Timer Deep Space and Space Timer Supernova, whose dials display a depth reminiscent of the intergalactic abyss

Among their more complex creations, the Chronoswiss Space Timer series, first released in 2022, best displays the brand’s audacious approach to watchmaking. In just two years, the brand have presented multiple iterations of the Space Timer’s three-dimensional dial, but it is the most recent duo of timepieces that truly displays the vastness of interstellar space. The Chronoswiss Space Timer Deep Space and the Space Timer Supernova are a bold expression of fine watchmaking inspired by the endlessness of space. On the multi-piece construction of the two new Chronoswiss Space Timer timepieces, the three-dimensional effect has been considerably enhanced by overlays of colour and texture. Melding a traditional regulator style layout with contrasting textures, multiple hues and a moon phase display in titanium is one thing, but detailing a watch dial with a cosmic story is like a journey into a whole other universe.
Space-Time Continuum: Chronoswiss Space Timer
Sized at 44mm with a height of 15.2mm, the Chronoswiss Space Timer watches feature a 17-piece construction in steel, with a blue PVD treatment for the Deep Space timepiece and a matt grey finish for the Supernova. The case displays an oversized onion crown at three o’clock and partial knurling on the profile, and is resistant to 100m. Sapphire crystal is used for the glass and the window on the caseback. Powered by the Chronoswiss automatic calibre C.308, the watches offer enhanced shock resistance thanks to the Incabloc shock protection system. The skeletonised rotor, visible through the caseback, is coated in blue CVD for the Deep Space watch, or features a galvanic black Cotes de Genève decoration for the Supernova timepiece. The blue theme of the Deep Space watch extends to a matching blue hornback alligator leather strap, while the Supernova is paired with a black calf leather strap.
Chronoswiss Space Timer Deep Space
Printed on one half the Chronoswiss Space Timer Deep Space’s dial is a depiction of Jupiter and one of its moons with over 400 active volcanoes. The brand have previously released versions in steel and rose gold of the Space Timer Jupiter with a 3D laser printed dial in a golden-copper effect. This fiery effect is taken to another dimension with the addition of a realistic-looking moon and its multi-hued, crater-less landscape. But that is only half the dial.
This planetary half of the dial appears overlaid onto a guilloche dial with a blue CVD finish. An hour ring at 12 in a translucent blue matches the date ring at six o’clock surrounding a three-dimensional moon phase display on a thermally coloured titanium hemisphere. Hour markers, the minute track around the periphery and timekeeping hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, aiding legibility in low light.
Chronoswiss Space Timer Supernova
The dial of the Chronoswiss Space Timer Supernova timepiece is a study in contrasts, with one half decorated in a silver guilloche pattern, while the other features a contrasting guilloche texture in black. While the bright side is representative of the progression of a cosmic body, the darker half represents the endlessness of space. Superimposed on this contrasting black and silver base layer are translucent red hour, minute and date rings, while the titanium hemisphere decorated with the moon and stars appears to float in the midst of all this cosmic creation.
With the expanse of the universe displayed on the dial of these watches, the Chronoswiss Space Timer watches display the brand’s audacity with telling a story. For this collection of timepieces, then, the sky—and the deep space beyond—is the limit.
