True to their spirit of innovation and bold design, Corum have once again presented an avant-garde creation—this time drawing inspiration from the natural world. Introducing the Golden Bridge ‘Serpent,’ featuring an elegant snake coiled around the baguette movement of the Golden Bridge, set amidst green leaves and vines. Crafted from 5N 18-karat rose gold, this unique piece seamlessly combines visual art with mechanical prowess.
The journey of the Golden Bridge began in 1977 at the International Inventors’ Fair in Geneva, when an independent watchmaker, Vincent Calabrese introduced a patented watch made up of 45 components. The La Chaux-de-Fonds-based brand immediately acquired the patent and collaborated with Calabrese to develop the movement. Three years later, the first Corum Golden Bridge was launched at the Basel Fair. This model not only successfully weathered the challenging quartz crisis, but also became one of the brand’s most important pillars. Over the years, the Golden Bridge has undergone various changes, including modifications in shape and size, with its linear baguette movement—consisting of bridges and a main plate—at the heart of every creation.
The distinguished tonneau-shaped case of the Golden Bridge ‘Serpent’, measuring 34mm x 51mm and offering a water resistance of up to 30m, is covered by a sapphire crystal that provides an unobstructed view of the intricate inner workings and stunning artistry. A hand-painted slithering reptile coils around the Golden Bridge movement, accompanied by surrounding leaves, creating a visually striking effect. The Golden Bridge CO 113 movement, composed of over 190 components, powers the hour and minute functions—displayed through the 5N gold-toned skeletonised baton-type hands set atop the bridge. When fully wound by the crown located at six o’clock—a distinct feature of the Golden Bridge—this manual movement beats at a frequency of 28,800vph, offering a power reserve of 40 hours.
The watch is presented on a brown alligator leather strap with a triple-blade folding clasp, lending it a sophisticated look.
