After 287 years of history, including recent periods of relative quiet, the brand have returned to the spotlight at Geneva Watch Days 2024. This isn’t just another relaunch; it’s a comprehensive revival that could redefine how heritage brands approach the modern market.

“Favre Leuba represents resilience and innovation in watchmaking,” says Hoffmann. This sentiment is clear in the brand’s relaunch plan, which includes three new collections with a total of 22 references–an unusually broad offering for a brand relaunch.

The New Collections

Favre Leuba’s revival centres on three distinct collections, each balancing heritage and new-age demands:

Favre Leuba Chief Collection

The Chief collection serves as the cornerstone of Favre Leuba’s relaunch. It’s divided into two sub-families: the Chief Chronograph (41mm) and the Chief Date (40mm). Both models reinterpret the brand’s 1970s aesthetic for modern tastes.

The Chief Chronograph, powered by the La Joux-Perret L113 movement, features a bi-compax layout and a tachymeter scale. Its sunburst dial, available in blue, ice blue, or black, showcases exceptional finishing with over 100 meticulous production steps. The case design, with its subtle redesign including grooved flanks and streamlined lugs, reflects a blend of vintage inspiration and contemporary styling.

The Chief Date, driven by the La Joux-Perret G100 movement, offers a more understated elegance. Its textured dial features a stamped tapestry pattern of high-relief hourglasses, available in green, blue, or black. Both models come with the option of an integrated steel bracelet or a rubber strap.

Favre Leuba Deep Blue Collection

The Deep Blue collection pays homage to Favre Leuba’s diving watch heritage. It offers two distinct approaches: the Deep Blue Revival (39mm) and the Deep Blue Renaissance (40mm).

The Deep Blue Revival is a faithful reissue of the 1964 model, celebrating its 60th anniversary. It retains the original’s 39mm case size and vintage aesthetics, including the sunray-finished grey dial and iconic round date window at 4:30. However, it incorporates modern improvements such as increased water resistance (now 300m) and the use of a sapphire crystal and bezel insert.

The Deep Blue Renaissance presents a modernised interpretation of the classic diver. It features a larger 40mm case, a smoked effect dial in blue, green, or anthracite grey, and a ceramic bezel. Both models are powered by the La Joux-Perret G100 movement and offer a water resistance of up to 300m.

The Sea Sky Chronograph (40mm) embodies the spirit of 1970s sports chronographs. Powered by the La Joux-Perret L112 movement, it features both tachymeter and telemeter scales, offering practical functionality alongside its vintage-inspired aesthetics. Available with black, blue, or sunburst brown dials, each model features three white counters and broad arrow-style hands, enhancing its classic appeal.
