In 2020, Louis Erard unveiled a quartet of La Sportive timepieces that resonated with admirers of neo-vintage watch dials. By fusing titanium, ceramic, and bronze, Louis Erard earned praise for crafting high-quality chronograph timepieces at impressively competitive prices. The La Sportive collection has since evolved into the 2300 Sport Chronograph series but remains true to the brand’s motto of placing value over price and creativity over conformity. At Geneva Watch Days 2024, Louis Erard continued this thought by adding more depth to the 2300 collection with three new watches. This trio is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a rugged material that is known for its exceptional performance in demanding industries like aeronautics and sports. The 2300 Sport Chronograph trio is a reboot of the original series, offering a vintage aesthetic, bold shades, dynamic time display, and the Louis Erard style of vertical time reading. The 2300 Sport Chronograph Rainbow, 2300 Sport Chronograph Blue, and 2300 Sport Chronograph Green are limited editions of 99 pieces each, all powered by the Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement—a renowned Swiss movement that also happens to be a vintage icon.
Time For Titanium: The Louis Erard 2300 Sport Chronograph
At Geneva Watch Days 2024, Louis Erard presented three 2300 Sport Chronograph watches. Each reference in the trio is a limited-edition watch in titanium. Grade 5 titanium is renowned for its remarkable strength and durability, making it an ideal choice for these robust chronograph watches. Hailing from the 2300 collection, these chronograph watches pay tribute to La Chaux-de-Fonds and its postal code—an homage to the birthplace of the Louis Erard company.
All three timepieces are classic tricompax chronographs, though visually they appear to have a bicompax layout. The highly resilient 44mm Grade 5 titanium case is equipped with a black ceramic bezel and a domed sapphire crystal. All three timepieces display an uncluttered dial. The counters are thoughtfully executed, with the 12-hour register at six o’clock and the 30-minute register at 12 o’clock; vertically stacked as is the signature Louis Erard style. The white highlights on the chronograph sub-dials enable clarity in reading time. The black 2300 Sport Chronograph Rainbow finds contrast in its rainbow gradient minutes track, while the khaki-orange 2300 Sport Chronograph Green and light blue-yellow 2300 Sport Chronograph Blue feature vibrant tones that extend from the strap to the hands and minutes track, highlighting the first five minutes of the chronograph.
The watches are paired with matching fluorocarbon rubber or FKM rubber straps. These highly durable straps are equipped with a unique titanium clasp system for precise adjustments. The titanium cases are water-resistant up to 50m and pack the ETA 7750 Valjoux movement that beats at a 4Hz frequency, achieving a 48-hour power reserve.
Lean And Green: The Louis Erard x The Horophile La Petite Seconde Metropolis Green
To stand out in this edition of the Geneva Watch Days, Louis Erard and Instagram influencer The Horophile reunited to launch The Louis Erard x The Horophile La Petite Seconde Metropolis Green. This Metropolis watch is based on the classic Louis Erard Petite Seconde watch. It features a compact 39mm stainless steel case with the brand’s signature ‘LE’ crown—the only place you come across the logo.
A Metropolis signature design element is the ‘Empire’ baton hands, inspired by the iconic Art Deco and modern architecture mishmash—the Empire State Building in New York, USA. Powered by the automatic Sellita SW261-1 calibre, the watch produces a 38-hour power reserve and controls the central hour and minute hands and seconds hand at six o’clock. The steel case is water-resistant up to 50m and is paired with a light brown grained calf leather strap.
Blending traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary spirit, Louis Erard’s latest watches bring the exclusivity of Swiss horology within reach, appealing for not just their attractive designs but also great quality.
