Maurice Lacroix’s Aikon collection has been around since 2016, and every once in a while, the brand update it to include new colours and functions. At the Geneva Watch Days 2024, however, the brand presented the biggest update to the collection yet—watches in titanium. Two new references each for the Aikon Automatic Titanium and Aikon Automatic Titanium Chronograph timepieces were showcased at the watch fair. And while titanium is no longer a ‘new’ trend in the watch industry, to have a Maurice Lacroix Aikon watch made from titanium implies that the brand have taken a giant leap into the ‘futuristic cool’ space with the lightweight and hypo-allergenic material. Of the new watches presented by Maurice Lacroix in Geneva, the grey dial of the Aikon Automatic Titanium timepiece stands out best for how it highlights the muted sheen of the robust metal through its overall monochromatic aesthetic.
Urban Cool: Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Titanium
Besides steel, Maurice Lacroix have previously explored bronze, ceramic and PVD treatments for their Aikon Automatic line. For their latest release, the brand play with both grades of titanium used in watchmaking—grade 2 has been used for the case with sandblasted and polished surfaces, while the signature arms on the bezel are in grade 5 titanium and feature a gleaming, polished finish. Overall, these contrasting finishes on the titanium case, and the way its various surfaces reflect light, highlight the metal’s muted sheen, putting the 42mm case and matching five-link titanium bracelet in the spotlight. Dials are decorated with a clous de Paris motif that has become a signature of the Aikon Automatic collection. While the grey dial lets the case and bracelet shine, the purple dial is for those who want to stand out ‘above the radar’. Facetted indexes punctuate the dial while hands are generously filled with luminous material. At three is a date window that makes the Aikon Automatic Titanium even more functional.

Sized at 44mm, the titanium cases of the Aikon Automatic Titanium Chronograph feature the same contrasting finishes in grade 2 and grade 5 titanium as the Aikon Automatic Titanium. On these chronograph timepieces, dials feature a lattice-like motif in purple or golden. The former has contrasting silver counters, while the latter has sub-dials in black, with the small seconds at nine, and 30-minute and 12-hour recorders at 12 and six o’clock respectively. At three, are dual day and date windows.
Powering the Aikon Automatic Titanium watches is the ML115 automatic calibre, while the ML112 automatic movement powers the Aikon Automatic Titanium Chronograph timepieces with timekeeping, day, date and chronograph functions. Both these are visible through windows on the titanium casebacks of both collections.
Resistant to 200m, these watches can withstand everyday splashes, making the lightweight, comfortable and scratch resistant timepieces easy to wear on a daily basis. Moreover, the brand’s easy change system allows the wearer to quickly switch between straps, enhancing the versatile appeal of these Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Titanium and Aikon Automatic Titanium Chronograph timepieces.
