Since the youngish German watch manufacturer’s inception in 1990, Nomos have never failed to impress. From their minimalistic design aesthetic to a wide range of in-house movements, each model released under their banner has been exceptional and well-received across the globe. Especially with the Club family, Nomos have forged ahead with a robust design aesthetic that has captured the hearts of a younger generation of watch lovers and enthusiasts. Sticking to their agenda, the German minimalist brand unveiled two sporty, bold, and versatile models under the popular Club Sport series—the Neomatik Polar and Petrol. These editions feature new and attractive dial colours, a smaller case diameter and a link bracelet. “The demand for Club Sport with this diameter was more than obvious,” stated Sven Schönberger from the product management team. “It simply fits the times.”
The Compact Elegance Of The New Club Sport
Touted as the ultimate ‘all-rounder’ watch, the new Nomos Glashütte Club Sport Neomatik versions come in a sleek and compact 37mm stainless steel case—down from the previous edition’s 42mm—and with a height of 8.4mm. They offer water resistance up to 200m, down from the earlier 300m, but impressive, nonetheless. Both new dial colours—petrol green and polar blue—are strikingly beautiful. They offer an elegant look to the watch with their sunburst finish, luxurious feel, and vibrant character.
The signature hour markers on the dials showcase a combination of luminescent Arabic numerals and baton indices, adding more texture to the visual. Meanwhile, the absence of the date window, which appeared in earlier models, is a welcome change.
Club Sport: Calibre And Colours
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback is the brand’s much slimmer (approximately 3.2mm) and highly precise DUW 3001 automatic movement, offering a 43-hour power reserve. The presence of the tempered blue balance spring makes it easily recognisable. According to the brand’s website, the calibre’s efficiency is 94.2 percent, which means that friction loss is down to 5.8 percent. Additionally, the Nomos swing system, the brand’s proprietary escapement, is set at the right pace with the highest precision.
The Club Sport Neomatik Petrol and Polar come with standard stainless steel link bracelets that ensure optimum comfort. The polished and satin-finished surfaces of the bracelet fuse seamlessly, working perfectly against the beautiful sunburst finish of the dial. While polar and icy blues have been quite popular in recent years, petrol green has particularly seen a surge in just the last one year—making these new Club watches fresher in appearance than ever.
