SpotlightSilver And Ice (Blue) And Everything Nice: Norqain Freedom 60 GMT 40mm Watch

The Norqain Freedom 60 GMT 40mm Ice Blue fits nicely in the ‘sporty travel watch’ segment with the GMT chapter ring, date aperture, and white Super-LumiNova applied indexes

May We Recommend

The combination of icy blue dials with silvery metal bodies defines a timeless, gender-neutral aesthetic. Under colder climes, this imagery blends with the frosty, ‘glacial’ imagery, while in warmer, tropical environments, the interpretation moves to cool, cloudless summer sky. Latching on to this trend is the latest Freedom 60 GMT watch by Norqain, the brand’s third offering after two earlier versions featured black and white dials. This GMT line fits nicely in the ‘sporty travel watch’ category with features such as a GMT chapter ring, date aperture, and Super-LumiNova applied indexes for readability under poorly lit conditions.

All Eyes On The Norqain GMT Ring

The icy blue dial of the Norqain Freedom 60 GMT watch with sunray finish forms a subtle contrast to the silverish dial timekeeping elements such as the diamond-cut indexes plus hands (hour and minute) with applied white X1 Super-LumiNova markers, flat central second hand and the GMT hand with the tip, like a drop of blood, is red. Displaying a second time zone, is the central 24-hour GMT ring or the internal AM/PM GMT ring, with the top half coloured anthracite to indicate the 6:00pm to 6:00am time slot, and the bottom half in white to record the 6:00am to 6:00pm slot.

Two antireflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glasses protect the dial’s timekeeping elements and the openworked caseback. The compact frame of the case ensures the Norqain Freedom 60 GMT provides upto 100m water resistance.

Efforts By Freedom 60 GMT To Achieve Superior Quality

The watch runs on the COSC-certified Norqain Manufacture Calibre NN20/2 by Kenissi, a Genevan manufacturer started by Swiss watchmaker Tudor in 2018 to produce mechanical movements. In fact, the NN20/2 looks similar to the Tudor GMT movement MT5652, which powers their Black Bay GMT watch. This automatic self-winding movement, held together by 28 rubies, features personalised elements, especially the oscillating weight engraved with Norqain’s core values, ‘Adventure—Freedom—Independence’. It beats at 28,800vph and offers upto 70-hour power reserve.
