May We Recommend
The closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics ended with a thrilling, uplifting montage of activity and stunts that moved the metaphorical torch from the Japanese capital to France. The three-year countdown to Paris 2024 began then (as Tokyo 2020 was actually held in 2021, owing to the onset of the COVID pandemic in 2020). Now, we’re just one year away from the ‘games of the XXXIII Olympiad’, and the official timekeepers of the globally-followed sporting event, Omega have unveiled their first watch for the 2024 edition—the Seamaster Diver 300M ‘Paris 2024’ Special Edition. This watch marks the one-year countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Paris 2024 On The Special Edition’s Dial
The year 2024 will mark the 92nd anniversary of Omega’s association with the Olympics. Since 1932, the Swiss brand have developed and perfected the timekeeping capabilities with equipment of all kinds to ensure precise and fair outcomes for the athletes competing for Olympic gold. Over the years, the maison have presented several special editions to mark the games. There have been many that have incorporated colours of the host nations or the five Olympic rings, and so on. The Paris 2024 Seamaster though goes a little more classical in appeal, and adds sophisticated richness to Omega’s signature dive watch, the Seamaster Diver 300M. Adding a golden touch to the Seamaster template is the bezel in Moonshine gold—Omega’s proprietary 18-karat yellow gold alloy. The 60-minute dive-timer scale on this unidirectional-rotating bezel has a grained finish, with tone-on-tone markers, offering gilded contrast against the paler case in steel, sized at 42mm.

Paris 2024 On The Caseback
A nod to Olympic gold medals, the golden touch is mirrored in the three timekeeping hands—all following the Diver 300M template, except for the lollipop-style seconds hand, which has a motif of the Olympic torch’s flame. This flame—a part of the Paris 2024 emblem—is also seen on the closed caseback of the timepiece, including the Olympic rings, against a laser-ablated background. A very subtle touch is the usage of the typography seen in this emblem on the numerals of the date display at six o’clock. Surrounding this is the dial in white ceramic, laser engraved to create the wave pattern that the Seamaster Diver 300M is known for.
Paris 2024 On The Straps
Also carrying the font of ‘Paris 2024’ is the pattern on the NATO strap options that this watch comes with. However, this special edition also comes with a rubber strap option or a standard five-link Seamaster bracelet in steel, but with Omega’s new and patented ‘quick change’ system, which allows a wearer to interchange between the above rather effortlessly.
In the spirit of timing the Olympic Games, and carrying forward Omega’s reputation for precision timekeeping, this Master Chronometer watch runs the highly-accurate co-axial automatic calibre 4400. And as we look forward to Paris 2024—which begins on July 26, 2024—and Omega delivering excellence through their official timekeeping of the events, we also look forward to all the other special editions they will unveil along the way until then.
