Oris are among the luxury Swiss watchmaking brands that take their responsibility to give back—to the environment and to communities—seriously. As official timekeepers of the French football league, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), and as part of their alliance with the league’s charity partner CNAPE—France’s National Convention of Child Protection Associations—Oris released the Divers Sixty-Five LFP watch. Limited to 1,000 pieces only, this commemorative timepiece features a special font for the text on the dial. “We’re not interested in sticking logos on things; we want to make a real difference. And this powerful collaboration will bring real change,” said Rolf Struder, Co-CEO, Oris. Besides this Divers Sixty-Five LFP limited edition, at the Geneva Watch Days trade convention this weekend, Oris also showcased their first ever Aquis Chronograph timepiece. Through these distinctive timepieces, the brand display both their quality watchmaking savoir-faire and their commitment to their mission towards sustainability and ‘change for the better’

Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition

Oris presented the Divers Sixty-Five LFP limited edition watch to mark CNAPE’s children’s charity football tournament, known as ‘Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance’, or ‘defenders of childhood’. The 38mm steel timepiece features the Divers Sixty-Five collection’s alternating brushed and polished finishes that lend the watch a distinct elegance. A unidirectional rotating steel bezel displays numerals and markers in relief. A closed steel caseback displays the logo of the football tournament—Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance. Behind this caseback is the brand’s automatic 733 calibre with timekeeping and date functions, and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Domed sapphire crystal glass protects the dial of the timepiece.

The dial is in a rich shade of blue, with a minute track in white around its periphery, and hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova. The Oris shield forms the 12 o’clock marker on the dial, and at six is the date window. In keeping with the cause that prompted the watch, the font used for the brand logo at 12 o’clock, and the water resistance rating and the words ‘Swiss made’ at six on the deep blue dial is designed to resemble a child’s handwriting. In addition, the words ‘water resistant’ are displayed in rainbow hues. This is done to match the text used for the ‘Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance’ logo, which is also displayed in rainbow hues. “We’re very pleased with the result and proud that people will be able to wear the colours of our collective through such an elegant object,” said Pierre-Alain Sarthou, general director of CNAPE, about the Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP limited edition.

Oris Aquis Chronograph

After renewing their Aquis Date collection at Watches and Wonders this year, Oris present the new Aquis Chronograph. Sized at 43.5mm, the steel case of the Oris Aquis Chronograph features a unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel with a ceramic insert. The crown and pushers at three o’clock on the case are integrated with the crown guards, lending the Aquis Chronograph a robust aesthetic that befits its dive watch status. A sapphire crystal window on the caseback offers a glimpse at the brand’s automatic 771 calibre housed within. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 62 hours.

The dial on this Aquis Chronograph is designed to ‘smile’ with three sub-dials at nine, six and three o’clock arranged in a semi-circle against a sunray-brushed gradient blue dial. A contrasting snailed texture decorates the 30-minute and 12-hour recorders at nine and three, and small seconds sub-dial at six o’clock. New ‘shield’ indexes—as seen in the updated Aquis Date watches—are filled with Super-LumiNova, as are the Aquis line’s distinctive alpha hands. A lollipop hand serves as the central chronograph hand on the dial. With these new updates to the Aquis line this year, one wonders what the brand will present next.
