SpotlightThe Sweet Chime Of Time: Speake-Marin Unveil Their First-Ever Minute Repeater Carillon Watch

A symphony of style and watchmaking superiority, the Speake-Marin Minute Repeater Carillon is a watch that chimes and charms its wearers with its unique mechanisms and high-tech materials

May We Recommend

Taking their unwavering dedication to the high art of watchmaking a notch higher, Speake-Marin have introduced its first-ever Minute Repeater Carillon watch. An extension of chiming mechanisms and bell towers of the bygone era, the Speake-Marin Minute Repeater Carillon is a charismatic timepiece packing multiple horological complications—a flying tourbillon, carillon minute repeater, and the animated 12 o’clock hour marker that collapses during the chiming arrangement. It is packed inside the signature Piccadilly case consisting of three main parts. While the bezel is forged in platinum, titanium forms the side case, and the caseback is entirely in sapphire or sapphire glass with platinum. Other Speak Marin trademarks are the fluted crown, stepped bezel, the rhodium-plated blue ‘Big Ben’ hands, and linear lugs. The meeting of technical ingenuity and tasteful aesthetics is reflected in the decorated calibre. The hammers, the tourbillon cages, minute repeater regulator bridge, and movement steel components such as the screws are hand-polished in black to create depth and sharp, well-polished angles.

Melodic Rhapsody: The Speake-Marin Minute Repeater Carillon

The Speake-Marin Minute Repeater Carillon boasts a sophisticated mechanism designed to produce beautiful melodies at precise moments. With its carillon system featuring three hammers, each striking at distinct intervals, this timepiece makes enchanting sounds to tell time. These hammers, intricately connected to a block, transform their vibrations into chimes. With a carillon in a minute repeater watch, it becomes possible to make richer and more melodious sounds, making them stand out from watches with just one gong.

Symphonious, Skeletonised Speake-Marin Carillon Dial

Ingenious throughout, the watch takes care of tiny design elements that make it even more nuanced, such as the case construction that influences the note of the minute repeater chime. The minute repeater regulation utilises regulator arms that operate in total silence to keep intact the marvellous resonance of the timepiece.

Despite the busy skeletonised dial, the Minute Repeater Carillon has a balanced look, cleverly portrayed by the 60-second flying tourbillon positioned at six o’clock. Talking of balance, even the structure of the movement counterbalances the tourbillon at six o’clock. Through an independent mechanism, the watch chimes the time up to three times per minute. The Roman hour marker ‘XII’ is part of the automation and gets activated by the sliders when the chiming begins.
