SpotlightA Stellar Trio: Speake-Marin Launch Ripples Infinity Date, Ripples Dune Date, And Openworked Tourbillon Ultra-Violet

At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 event, Speake Marin have added the Openworked Tourbillon Ultra-Violet to their One & Two Openworked collection, and added the Ripples Infinity Date And Ripples Dune Date to their Ripples collection

May We Recommend

In 2022, Speake-Marin hopped on the everlasting trend of stainless steel sports watches by launching the Ripples collection. This young but diverse line is an interesting departure from their signature Piccadilly case, as it instead features a rounded-square case measuring 40.3mm. Dubbed ‘La City’, this case is named after London and represents the city’s contemporary infrastructure in steel and glass. The dial decoration with 12 three-dimensional horizontal ripples, from which the collection takes its name, enhances the contemporary style of this collection, while the heart-tipped hour hand, depicting London’s monumental Big Ben, offers Ripples watches their distinctive aesthetic codes. Exhibiting at the Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024, Speake-Marin launch two new Ripples iterations, along with an openworked tourbillon timepiece that features the Piccadilly case crafted from titanium. The latest timepieces from the Ripples and Openworked collections are powered by in-house movements. Since its introduction in 2020, the Openworked Tourbillon has seen several iterations, each crafted in limited quantities and quickly becoming famous amongst its discerning collectors.

Creating Waves Again: The Speake-Marin Ripples Infinity Date And Ripples Dune Date

Speake-Marin have updated the Ripples collection with the Ripples Infinity Date and Ripples Dune Date. The new Ripples Infinity Date—a contemporary version of the original Ripples Date with the date window on the black dial—features a rhodium-plated display in silver with a metallic sheen. The ripples pattern on the Infinity Date, combined with the applied rhodium-plated and polished indexes creates a soft interplay of lights and shadows.

A notable signature of Speake-Marin is the small seconds counter at 1.30—between one o’clock and two o’clock, featuring a distinct sunray pattern, polished indexes and a solitary rhodium-plated steel hand. The minute track matches the dial colour, and displays the minutes as black dots. Its 40.3mm steel case comes attached to an integrated three-row satin-finished steel bracelet with central link. The bracelet does not have a push-button, which adds to the aesthetic appeal and wearing comfort of the watch.

The Ripple references have always featured monochromatic dials, but the Ripples Dune Date changes that. Its two-tone dial lends a new aesthetic direction to the collection. Here, the sand-coloured metallic dial is paired with a green small seconds counter, and a minute track with white dots for a marked contrast. The Dune Date is paired with a steel bracelet. Both the new Ripples watches are powered by the self-winding SMA03-TD movement, beating at the frequency of 4Hz and offering a 52-hour power reserve.

The See-Through Speake-Marin Openworked Tourbillon Ultra-Violet

The Openworked Tourbillon Ultra-Violet takes the wearer into a realm of futuristic architecture illuminated by vibrant hues of light and fluorescent tones. The expert blending of different textures, paired with the vibrant ultra-violet colour, creates stunning light effects for the SMA05 manufacture calibre powering the watch.

The ultra-violet grid of the dial creates a striking highlight for the movement’s key components, like the flying tourbillon, off-centre micro-rotor, and power reserve indicator, making them stand out against the rhodium-plated black plate. Like all One & Two Openworked watches, the Openworked Tourbillon Ultra-Violet is available in 38mm and 42mm cases, and complemented by a black rubber strap.
