9. Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114 – The GMT Watch For India
Every year since 2014, Oris has released one exclusive in-house manufactured movement. This time it’s the manual-winding Calibre 114 that is seen in the Big Crown collection. Apt for a ProPilot watch, it is the ideal timepiece for a traveller and specifically one who is from India or Australia. This is owing to the impressive inclusion of the half-hour time zones that India and Australia have, because of which most other watches with GMT functions aren’t perfectly helpful for us. Housed in a 44mm steel case, water resistant to 100m, this watch comes with a dial in anthracite grey or black. With applied Arabic numerals and other details in white, the face also reveals a few red accents by way of the GMT hand pointer and parts of the non-linear 10-day power reserve scale.

10. Corum Heritage La Grande Vie – Classical Simplicity
A Corum so simplistic, it’s sure to surprise many. This classic design in the trendiest colour of the year is perfection in minimalism. Housed in a steel case is a clean blue dial, featuring hour indexes, minute markers, skeleton hands and other text detailing that matches the case. The striking element on the dial is the Corum ‘key’ emblem as an oversized watermark at 12 o’clock. Complementing the dial is a blue leather strap.

11. Movado Museum Classic – Colour-Blocking Perfection
The first Movado Group Summit was held in Davos this year, where all their brands showcased their 2018 novelties – among the few that we saw outside of Baselworld. Between these new products was the update to their iconic Museum Classic, now in black PVD. The all-black case features the emblematic Movado Museum Dot at 12 o’clock – a feature that denotes the sun’s position at noon. With a textured leather strap in tan, this watch displays colour-blocking with perfection.

12. Meistersinger Circularis in DLC – The Single-Hand Watch Goes Dark
Impressive is the word to describe the Meistersinger Circularis in DLC. The jet-black watch explains why ‘dark matter’ matters, and the diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating is the reason for the watch’s rock solid and rugged demeanour. Presented in a 43mm case, it has a smooth, matte finish because of the sandblast treatment meted out. The black dial serves as a perfect backdrop to highlight the beige Arabic hour markings and a red-tipped hand. At the heart of the watch is a MSH02 hand-wound movement, which packs in a five-day power reserve, indicated in a 120-hour scale on the dial, which lies directly opposite the circular date window at three o’clock. The saddle brown leather strap fitted to the black case presents a striking image.

13. Titoni Master Series Power Reserve – The Master Upgrade
Titoni, the family-run Swiss watch brand, has upped the ante and presented an extremely sophisticated watch collection – the Titoni Master Series Power Reserve. The successor to the previous Master Series collection comes with quite a few changes that make it visually refreshing and technically advanced. The distinctive watch is offered in several versions with an option between a black or white dial. The steel bracelet is available with both dial options, while straps in brown and black leather are available with the white and grey dials respectively. With the power reserve indicator, the dial is set in a 41mm case. The 21mm watch bracelet makes it impressive on any wrist. With a power reserve up to 44 hours, water resistance up to 100m, and varied watch faces, there’s not much to complain about.

14. Hugo Boss Oxygen Casual – Dark Splendour
Unveiled at the first Movado Group Summit in Davos, is this crisp, bold timepiece – Hugo Boss Oxygen. The all-black watch is sure to please the millennial watch enthusiasts who prefer an edgy and bold wristwatch. An all-black treatment is seen on the new 42mm case and mesh bracelet that imparts deep, grunge splendour. Hugo Boss has carved a niche for itself, and rightly so, the same reflects in the über-cool watch, which is definitely worth the modest price tag on it.

15. Avi-8 Flyboy Centenary – The Latest Aviation-Inspired Watch
The year 2018 marks the centennial anniversary of the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF). To commemorate this historic milestone, Avi-8 launched the 1920s (AV-4058) and 1940s (AV-4059) editions at Baselworld 2018 in various dial colours. This entire collection includes models that depict momentous decades – 1920s, 1940s, 1960s, and 1980s – the golden years of the RAF. A noteworthy element in both the new editions is the conical crown with the Royal Air Force roundel stamped on the top.

This Swiss-based start-up has garnered a lot of attention in the watchmaking world for their highly distinct and youthful timepieces. Known for their electricity-inspired designs and energy-infused products, The Electricianz’s latest offering is Cable Z. Described as ‘an ode to electricity with an explosive bouquet of enmeshed and colourful cables’, the dial showcases a semblance of the wires of an old-fashioned British plug. Powered by a modified Miyota 2033 movement, this vibrant watch is offered in a 45mm yellow nylon case with a stainless steel bezel and pushers.
