History
Angelus might portray itself as a relatively fresh brand with avant-garde designs inside the Urban collection but it has a long history of producing elegant timepieces. Back in 1942, Angelus launched the Chronodate, the world's first serially produced wristwatch with a chronograph and a date function combined.
Features
After 80 years of hiatus, the Angelus Chronodate collection has been revived again but with a few touch-ups of modernity into it. Retaining the original configuration of the chronographs, the overhauled collection is fitted with chronographs at 3 and 9 o'clock markers. The pushers controlling the chronographs are made with carbon composite and the crown is fitted with a rubber ring providing the Chronodate with today's Angelus's sporty DNA. Even the 42.5mm case is made with a carbon composite that makes the timepieces under the collection lighter.
Movement
Inside the Angelus Chronodate collection is the A-500 movement. The A-500 is modelled on the Valjoux 7750 movement and made by La Joux-Perret. Another legacy that the Chronodate holds is the Date pointer by the red triangular-tipped central hand which is the same as the original Chronodate. To accommodate this feature, the movement has been specially reworked. What is absent inside the collection is the iconic day and month window at 12 and 6 o'clock markers.
