History
Reverso has been the crown jewel for Jaeger-LeCoultre amongst the gem-studded heritage the brand carries. Carrying the legacy of Jaeger-LeCoultre, a wristwatch that could swivel on its own axis was born in 1931. The Reverso was created during a polo match inside a British Army officer's club. During the polo match, businessman and watch enthusiast Cesar de Tray was given the challenge to craft a watch that can stand a rigorous polo match. Tray decided to offer this challenge to David LeCoultre. David created a watch that can swivel on its own axis. The purpose of the watch was to endure a polo match and also serve as a dress watch during tea. This led to the creation of the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso collection.
The Classic
The Reverso Classic series is home to various iterations. The Reverso Classic Monoface is a non-swivelling variant with a two-toned dial and sword hands. Whereas, the Reverso Classic Duetto is equipped with a swivelling case which is equipped with a diamond-studded bezel on one side of the dial. In some cases, both sides of the case are fitted with diamonds. Adding a little bit of complication to the series, the Reverso Classic Monoface and Duoface add a small seconds dial on the 6 o'clock marker. On the other side of the case in the Reverso Classic Duoface Small Seconds, one can fix a second-time zone which is further complemented by a day/night indicator at the 6 o'clock marker. The two time zones inside the Duoface are powered by a single movement.
The One
A petite representation of the iconic Reverso, the Reverso One is a feminine take on the swivelling masterpiece. With dauphine hands, horizontally stacked diamond bezel, and guilloche dials, the Reverso One Monoface is an exquisitely simple timepiece and the only non-swivelling iteration inside the Reverso One series. On the swivelling spectrum, the Reverso One Duetto is equipped with a horizontally stacked diamond-studded bezel on both sides of the case. Inside the Reverso One Duetto Moon, one side of the case is fitted with diamonds and the other side is not. The diamond-studded side is also equipped with a moon phase indicator at the 6 o'clock marker. The Reverso One Duetto Jewellery is fixed with three layers of diamond on both sides of the case, making it an extravagant addition to the series. Apart from the diamonds, one side of the case is equipped with mother-of-pearl dials. While the other side of the dial displays intricate designs.
The Tribute
Paying tribute to the legacy of the Reverso, the Reverso Tribute is the perfect embodiment of the brand's watchmaking acumen. Fixed with complications such as moon phase, day/month, and small seconds, the Reverso Tribute series is equipped with straps designed by Argentinian bootmaker, Casa Fagliano. Inside the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds, one side of the dial is fitted with small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker. On the other side of the dial, there is a day/night indicator for the second time zone dial. Similarly, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Moon is also equipped with a day/night indicator on one side of the rotating case. On the other side of the Reverso Tribute Duoface Moon is a moon phase sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker. The moon phase sub-dial also displays a date indicator marked by a small hand. Whereas, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Calendar is equipped with a day/month window and a moon phase on one side of the dial and a day/night indicator on the other side of the dial. The Reverso Tribute series also features a non-swivelling variant called the Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds. Inside the Monoface, the small seconds sub-dial is fixed at 6 o'clock.
