About the Armin Strom Resonance Collection
The Resonance
The Armin Strom Resonance collection builds upon the legacy left behind by Mr Strom. A legacy of skeletonising dials is further carried by modern mechanical innovations. In physics, Resonance is defined as a phenomenon when the vibrations or frequencies generated by two bodies match. In watchmaking, this phenomenon is rarely used only by master watchmakers. The effect of resonance offers greater accuracy, and linear power delivery, and reduces the effects of external factors leading to inaccuracy. As per the laws of physics, Resonance is achieved via two independent bodies. In watchmaking, these two bodies are two independent movements each equipped with its own mainsprings, gear trains, and regulators. These two independent movements are either connected by a balance cock or a bridge that helps these two movements achieve resonance. In the case of Armin Strom, this connection is achieved with a patented Resonance Clutch Spring. Each and every deviation in one movement is then corrected by another. Armin Strom perfected this phenomenon quite efficiently and became one of the rarest watchmakers to achieve this goal. With timepieces such as the Resonance Zeitgeist, Pure Resonance, and Mirrored Force Resonance, Armin Strom offers accuracy without compromising on the aesthetic value.
Mirrored Force Resonance
Made with stainless steel or a rose gold case, the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance features the ARF15 movement. Apart from the case, the Mirrored Force Resonance is also equipped with a guilloche dial and is even offered in a sandblasted version. The pusher above the crown is to adjust the resonance mechanism. Whereas, the two triple hand seconds dial displays seconds from the two independent movements.
Zeitgeist & Pure Resonance
To celebrate the 5 year anniversary of Armin Strom's revival, the brand launched the Resonance Zeitgeist. Zeitgeist is a unique timepiece with a platinum case and a transparent skeleton dial. Taking most of its inspiration from the Mirrored Force Resonance, the Resonance Zeitgeist features two triple-hand seconds sub-dial.Whereas, Pure Resonance is not equipped with a skeleton dial but still shows the synchronised ballet of the two balance springs trying to achieve accurate resonance. Pure Resonance is available in different dial colours such as Salmon, Sea Green, Sky Blue, Blue, and Black Gold.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
To understand the Armin Strom ARF15 movement, one needs to understand the concept of resonance. Resonance is a state of equilibrium when two vibrating bodies close to each other distribute an equal amount of power to the movement at all times. Resonance provides a movement with the required precision. The ARF15 is a movement that achieves its resonance through a patented system called the Resonance Clutch Spring. This system helps the two hairsprings achieve the fastest and the most regular resonant state ever witnessed in a watch. This manual-winding movement also provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours while vibrating at 25,200 vph.
