Frederique Constant SmartWatch Gents Classics

History

Back in 2015, Frederique Constant decided to launch the first smartwatch. This made Frederique Constant the first Geneva-based mechanical watch manufacturer to instil the idea of Swiss-made smartwatches. Since then, the Frederique Constant Smartwatch collection has built upon the idea of equipping simple quartz movements with smartwatch functionality.

Features

Equipping a quartz movement with Bluetooth is not easy but it does wonders when it is called the Horological Smartwatch. For starters, the Gents Classic series under the Smartwatch collection is connected to the mobile phone via Bluetooth and is equipped with an activity tracker, sleep monitor, and a world timer function.With a built-in accelerometer, the watch can track steps and displays them on the sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker. One needs to set up the number of steps that the user needs to complete in a day on the mobile app. The percentage of the steps completed is displayed on the outer ring of the sub-dial. For example, if the user has set up a goal of 1000 steps and if the longer hand inside the sub-dial is placed at 40 then it means the user has completed 400 steps.Apart from the activity tracker, the Smartwatch Classics is also a robust world timer as it switches the time according to the mobile phone. If the user is travelling to another country, the watch will adjust itself according to the timezone displayed on the phone.

The Vitality

Where the Smartwatch Classics series was analogue in all its sense, the Smartwatch Vitality is a sensuous amalgamation of digital and analogue. Equipped with a digital screen at the 6 o'clock marker, the Smartwatch Vitality series is a robust upgrade from the Classics iteration. The digital screen can display features such as World Time, Chronograph, Heart Rate Monitoring, Activity tracking, Active Alerts, Sleep Monitoring, Weather, and other basic notifications. All these functionalities are built over the FC-287 quartz movement that can be adjusted via the crown. The Vitality is also available in a custom variant called Vitality Configurator and is available for both men and women.
