History

The Nomos Glashutte Autobahn collection was launched in 2018. A much newer collection, the Autobahn collection is a series of watches that are inspired by the passion for driving unending roads.

Essence

In Germany, the Autobahn is referred to as the freeway connecting the different parts of the country. The Autobahn network is known for not enforcing speed limits and this is where the philosophy behind creating the Nomos Glashutte Autobahn collection is. The Nomos Autobahn collection features a dial that somewhat resembles a speedometer but rests with the minimalistic ideology of Nomos. The automotive-inspired design coupled with the minimalism is what sets the Autobahn collection apart from the rest of the collection. Designed by Werner Aisslinger, the Nomos Glashutte Autobahn collection depicts the outer lane of a racetrack or the fender of a vintage automobile.

Features

At the first glance, the Nomos Glashutte Autobahn is equipped with just a date and small seconds but the way it is installed is immaculate. Tucked over the 6 o'clock marker, the date function displays three dates at once. The current one is in the middle, and the next and the previous one is on the right and left side of the current date. Over the date window, the small second's dial is fixed with a neat and sleek fixture. The Autobahn collection is equipped with the DUW 6101 calibre, Nomos's first neomatik calibre with a date function.

The Director's Cut

Nomos has a distinct way of trailing through the limited edition path, it does not lose the identity whilst doing so. Similarly, inside the Nomos Glashutte Autobahn Director's Cut limited edition, the idea behind the concept is intact but with the addition of subtle intricacies. The addition of a fine line bracelet instead of the textile strap and the vibrant trimmings on the dial describes this limited edition perfectly.
