Post the success of Delfin, Edox decided to push through the path of ingenuity with better and updated iterations and timepieces. In 1965, the brand came up with the Edox Hydro-Sub timepiece. Known for creating highly water-resistant watches, the Hydro-Sub featured the world's first crown system with a tension ring and a shock-absorbing gasket for better water-resistance capabilities.
Based on the original Hydro-Sub, the modern-day timepiece lives on the legacy with the Edox crown with a double O'ring and a rotating ceramic bezel. Taking the baton of legacy forward, the Hydro-Sub still provides a water-resistant capacity of 300 meters. Being a diving watch, the Hydro-Sub is equipped with luminescent hands or indices for superior legibility. The case also retains the original cushion shape for better protection against shocks. To delegate the legacy into this collection, Edox decided to limit the Hydro-Sub to just 500 units.
The Edox Hydro-Sub collection is fitted with COSC-certified movements. These movements provide the collection with precise timekeeping. Called the Caliber/Edox 806, this mechanical movement is automatic and provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours while vibrating at 28,800 vph.
What is special about Edox?
A leading watchmaker, Edox is also known as the “Water Champion” of the watchmaking industry. This name was derived from the timepiece created by Edox in 1961 called the Delfin, a watch that fitted the patented crown with a double gasket for better water resistance. After gaining fame through Delfin, Edox launched another groundbreaking timepiece in 1965 called the Edox Hydro-Sub. The Hydro-Sub was the first timepiece with a crown that was equipped with a tension ring and a shock-absorbing gasket.
