About the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon Collection
At Baselworld 2013, Arnold & Son launched the world's largest moon phase display with their Perpetual Moon collection that spotlighted this celestial complication boldly in a sizeable aperture of 29mm. With such a spectacular display of the moon phase coupled with brilliant craftsmanship, the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon collection invites wearers to an aesthetic watchmaking journey.
The Chronicles of the Perpetual Moon
The ultimate charm of the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon collection lies in its dial. Therefore, an array of intricate designs, the use of exclusive materials, and the application of beautiful gemstones are rife on the dial that holds the watch's lodestone - the moon phase indicator. Naturally, this moon phase aperture is even more exquisite as it mimics the beauty of the night sky. Alongside a realistic depiction of the moon, this display carries recreations of two constellations - the Big Dipper and the Cassiopeia. The choice of these constellations is quite discerning, for they were used by navigators in the Northern Hemisphere to find the North Star.
Features
Offered in a slew of case sizes for both men and women, the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon is also available in different materials such as red gold, platinum and stainless steel. Most Perpetual Moon watches are powered by the in-house movement A&S1512, whereas the 38mm version for women is driven by A&S1612. Both these movements are manually wound and offer a power reserve of 90 hours while beating at 3Hz or 21,600vph. These calibres are meticulously constructed to ensure moon phase accuracy for 122 years. Visible through the case, they are finished impeccably, showing traditional decoration, such as Côtes de Genève stripes, chamfering, bevelling, and polishing. Though inside the 38mm version, the A&S1612 movement takes charge.
