About the Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Collection
The Patravi collection by Carl F. Bucherer, launched in 2001, exemplifies the brand's dedication to creating highly functional and technologically advanced timepieces. Since its inception, Patravi has become a hallmark of Carl F. Bucherer's craftsmanship, offering a range of robust and versatile watches equipped with advanced complications. Signature models such as the TravelTec, ScubaTec, and ChronoDate have set new standards in the industry, showcasing features like triple time zone displays, deep-sea diving capabilities, and precise chronograph functions. Primarily a collection of sports watches, Patravi models are designed for active and professional use, though their refined aesthetics also make them suitable for formal settings. Today, the Patravi collection remains a leader in high-end watchmaking, with each model meticulously designed to meet the practical needs of professionals while maintaining a distinctive and elegant aesthetic.
Features And Mechanism
The Patravi collection from Carl F. Bucherer combines bold design with advanced horology. Its robust, rounded cases, prominent lugs, and rich materials - such as stainless steel and rose gold - offer a commanding presence. The A1000 calibre, featuring a distinctive peripheral rotor, delivers precision with a 55-hour power reserve and reduced friction. This innovative rotor design allows for a slimmer case while enhancing winding efficiency.
Iterations
The TravelTec, introduced in 2005, features an inner ring for the third time zone that can be adjusted by pressing a button, allowing it to move forward or backwards in one-hour steps. The push button mechanism is visible through an aperture on the side of the case. TravelTec is available in vibrant colourways for an overall characterful look. In 2013, the Patravi ScubaTec debuted as Carl F. Bucherer's first diving watch. The collection checks off all the boxes of a great dive watch both with their technical prowess displayed by peripheral technology and with unique visuals exuded with their fish scales-patterned dial.

At 44.6mm wide with strong lugs, this is a large watch, though at just 13.45mm thick it isn't terribly tall for a diver. The steel case is classic in its composure but designed with a lot of straight lines and angles that point to a more contemporary creation. This is not just another retro diver. That is getting to be a crowded market. It is really about having luxury detailing on what is essentially a fun sport watch. I do feel as though the debut version is a bit limited style-wise as they could have come out with more color options, but if you love blue and black you'll love the ScubaTec.
An eagerly awaited model from this year's BaselWorld, it is an impressive timepiece that is worth the buy -

Being a watch enthusiast and a collector, I eagerly await the Basel World every year and this year was no different. As always, there were some great luxury watches that were released this year. I had visited Carl F Bucherer in Lucerne several years ago and was over awed by their collection of fine watches. Since I did not have until now a CFB in my collection, I was awaiting to see the Scubatec Diver's watch from the Patravi collection with a lot of anticipation.
I was mesmerized by what I saw in the pictures that were released immediately after its launch. Scubatec is one of the most 'handsome' and manly Diver's watch I've seen until now. With a 44.6 mm dial, it's a big watch but surprisingly the COSC movement housed inside allows it to be not too bulky and thick. Therefore in spite of being rather big, it fits nicely even on small wrists such as mine. Scubatec has a very attractive black dial. It also comes in blue and white dials although they are not yet available in India. The wave pattern on the dial gives the watch a sense of depth and the dial appears differently when seen from different angles. The hour markers are raised and the 6 & 9 O' clock position markers are different from the rest. The hands are big and eye catching and that makes seeing the time so much easy, something that's so critical for a Diver's watch. The lume in the markers and the hands is a nice blue-green, which makes it glow in the depths of the sea and at night.
The unidirectional rotating bezel is made of the finest scratch proof ceramic and the blue from 12 to 3 O' clock has a special blue similar to the "Coat of the Arms" reminding one of Lucerne, the home of CFB. The screw down crown also has the same blue and CFB symbol on the side. The helium escape valve on the side is something that many of us may not ever get to test but is essential for the watch to withstand the high pressure at a depth of 500 meters under the sea.
Coming to the sapphire, being anti reflective on both sides, it makes the dial appear black or blue when viewed at different angles. The back of the watch has two Manta Rays that appear three dimensional and reminds us once again of the depths of the sea.
Last but not the least, the bracelet of Scubatec is made of one of the finest steel. The alternating polished and brushed parts truly set it apart from any other watch in the same category. The divers extension make it convenient to adjust the size when worn over the scuba suit and the fine extension allows adjusting the length without the trouble of adding or removing the links. The black and the blue rubber strap, which I do not yet have, will make the watch a pleasure to wear more casually.
To sum up, Scubatec is one of the best Diver's watch in the market and in my view it surpasses even the likes of Rolex and Omega. It's a sporty watch yet formal enough to be worn with a suit. My review of Scubatec will be incomplete if I do not thank the Ethos team to make this watch available in India so quickly after its international launch. It's been a real pleasure to buy this watch from Ethos, and I'm told I'm the first one in India to be its proud owner. I look forward to a long love affair with my Scubatec. -

This indicates a new sporty look of you. It has all the features that a consumer would like to have. Its sapphire crystal glass gives the watch a different shiny look. Its dark background improves the look of the dial. This is not to heavy or not to light but perfect. Suitable for any hand.:)
