A breakthrough in both shock protection and openworked design, the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton is a bold technical feat from IWC’s XPL division. Limited to 100 pieces, it integrates the patented SPRIN-g PROTECT system—engineered in bulk metallic glass to absorb over 10,000 g of impact force—with a lightweight, skeletonised tourbillon calibre. At six o’clock, the flying tourbillon performs with visual poise and mechanical resilience. The IWC-manufactured calibre 82915 features ceramic-reinforced Pellaton winding and an 80-hour reserve. To optimise shock resistance, the plates, bridges and rotor are extensively openworked, while the skeleton hands and reduced dial complete the ultralight architecture. The case and crown are forged in matte-black Ceratanium, offering the hardness of ceramic with the weight of titanium.
