Parmigiani Tonda Metrographe

Essence

Parmigiani has a long history of restoring rare timepieces. With the Parmigiani Tonda collection, all that restoration experience has been inculcated inside the timepieces. Be it the sleek and elegant 1950 or the complex Hemisphere, the Tonda collection has garnered affection from the watchmaking world for its diversity.

Tonda 1950

The elegant yet simple Tonda 1950 series is equipped with many variations but retains the lance hands and sleek hour indexes throughout the series. In most of the timepieces, there is a small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker. Inside the 1950 Lune, there is also a moon phase on the 12 o'clock marker and a date window inside the small seconds sub-dialThe small seconds sub-dial is absent on the skeleton dial variant as it displays the in-house automatic movement, the PF707.The Tonda 1950 series is also equipped with the 1950 Meteorite variants. Inside the 1950 Meteorite, the dial is made with an actual meteorite.

Metropolitaine & Selene

Priming themselves for the high-jewellery arena, Parmigiani decided to install two elegant series of timepieces, the Metropolitaine and Selene. Inside the Metropolitaine series, there are two dial variants, mother-of-pearl and aventurine. On the dial is also a small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o'clock marker. The diamond-studded bezel is complemented by rose gold cases and hands.The Selene series is an amalgamation of both technical proficiency and brilliant gem-setting. With a moon phase at 12 o'clock and a small seconds on the 6, the Selene series places its efforts on fine watchmaking. The Selene series is equipped with two case materials, mother-of-pearl and blue aventurine.

The Chronographs

Inside the Tonda collection, there are different iterations of the chronograph complication such as the Metrographe, Chronor and the Tonda GT. In the Metrographe series, the chronograph sub-dials display the hour counter, 30-minuter counter, and the small seconds. Whereas, the split window showcasing the date is fixed at the 12 o'clock marker in majority of the Metrographe timepieces. The Metrographe series also features a tachymeter on the flange of the dial.Another series inside the Tonda collection is the Tonda GT. The Tonda GT Chronograph is available in two case materials, rose gold and steel. The steel variant shares the same configuration as the Metrographe but with a month window inside the small seconds dial. Whereas, inside the rose gold case variant, the placement of the sub-dials differs a little. The rose gold variant is placed with a 30-minute counter, small seconds sub-dial, and a 12-hour counter at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock markers.The Tonda GT is also available in a much simple iteration called the Tonda GT automatic which is equipped with a date window and small seconds sub-dial.Expanding on the chronograph complication is the Tonda Chronor series. A handsome yet elegant set of timepieces, the Chronor is equipped with a date, 30-minute counter, small seconds, and hour indicators at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock markers, respectively. The Chronor is also home to a tachymeter featured on the flange of the dial.

The Tonda Hemisphere

In a bid to bring rarity to the collection, Parmigiani decided to incorporate a dual timer that also displays a day/night indicator for both time zones. The Parmigiani Tonda Hemisphere series is a well-crafted dual-timer with the second time zone displayed at the 12 o'clock marker with a day/night indicator placed on its circumference. Whereas, the day/night indicator for the home time is fixed inside the small seconds dial at the 6 o'clock marker.
